Meet the Phonics Mama: A Teacher, Mom, and Literacy Advocate

Hello and welcome to The Phonics Mama blog! I’m so excited you’re here and I can’t wait to share a little bit about myself and why I created this space for hands-on, literacy-based fun.

My name is Megan, and I’m an early childhood educator turned stay-at-home mom to an amazing little boy. After years of teaching preschool and early elementary students, I’ve realized that learning doesn’t have to stop when you close a book. In fact, I believe that the best way to learn is through play, creativity, and real-life experiences. That’s what inspired me to create The Story Boxes—a collection of interactive story kits that bring books to life!

As a teacher, I’ve always been obsessed with child development and early literacy. I’ve seen firsthand how engaging young learners with hands-on activities can spark curiosity and build important skills. And as a mom, I wanted to find a way to make reading a fun and magical experience for my son—and for children everywhere.

Each of our story boxes is designed with love, based on my years of experience in early childhood education. They’re packed with carefully selected books, crafts, activities, movement, and mindfulness exercises—all aimed at helping your little ones develop a love for reading while learning and having fun along the way!

I’m thrilled to be on this journey with you and can’t wait to share more tips, tricks, and stories as we explore the world of literacy and learning together. Thank you for being part of this exciting adventure!

Stay tuned for more fun posts, updates on new story boxes, and free resources to help your child learn and grow!

With love and literacy,
Megan
